Shigeru Ban: The Paper Architect’s Complete Work 1985-2010

The ecologically minded architect Shigeru Ban is famous for his structures crafted from recyclable materials as well as his adoption of traditional Japanese building methods. He became famous for his use of paper tubes and cargo containers in his innovative, portable designs. Ban’s heritage has a definite impact on his projects, as many themes and methods found in traditional Japanese architecture, such as “shōji”, and the idea of a ‘universal floor’ to allow continuity between all rooms in a house, appear constantly in his buildings. All of Ban’s work is put on a pedestal in Shigeru Ban: Complete Works 1985-2010 by German Artbook publisher, Taschen. An absolute must-have for the architecture lover.
